Rakaposhi ( 7788m ) and Diran ( 7266m ) peaks are best viewed from Hunza Valley. In this tour we visit the base camps of both mountains but from different valleys. For Diran base camp, we visit a green and fertile valley near Gilgit i.e. Bagrot. Bagrot is a neglected valley thus making it an ideal destination as it is less polluted as compared to other tourist places For Rakaposhi base camp, we start our trekking from Minapin Village off the KKH. Minapin is also the name of Diran Peak. Apart from trekking, the tour has a sightseeing trip of Hunza Valley and we travel as far as Khunjerab Pass, at the border between Pakistan & China.

ITINERARY

    Day 01 Arrival in Pakistan

    Welcome in Pakistan at Islamabad and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon we will make a city sightseeing tour to Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which offers a great contrast of culture, archaeology and planning. Rawalpindi is an old city with narrow lanes and bustling bazaars while Islamabad is a modern and the only planned city of Pakistan serving as the capital of the state. Raja Bazaar, Murree Road, Lok Virsa Museum and Shah Faisal Mosque are the places of tourist interest included in the tour.

    Day 02 Islamabad - Chilas

    We depart from Islamabad and arrive at Besham crossing the famous towns of Abbottabad and Mansehra. Later on ffollowing the upstream course of River Indus, we will make photo stops at Shatial rocks with ancient graffiti's on it. After a long day aboard, we arrive at Chilas and transfer to hotel for overnight.

    Day 03 Chilas - Bulchi ( Bagrot Valley )

    We will start driving on KKH and bye passing the town of Gilgit we arrive at Danyor and switch over to jeeps for Bulchi, a green village of Bagrot Valley. On arrival at Bulchi, we establish our camp for overnight stay.

    Day 04 Bulchi - Tagafari

    We start our walking through green fields and later on encounter with the lower portion of Hinarchi Glacier. Passing through green and fertile ablation valley of the glacier, we arrive at Tagafari and camp on the edge of the glacier.

    Day 05 Tagafari - Diran Base Camp

    We start trekking with a steep descent into and the climbing on the glacier. Once on the glacier, we follow the middle route as it offers less number of crevasses as compared to side tracks. Traversing the glacier, we arrive at a green meadow with flowers, which serves as the base camp for Diran Peak.

    Day 06 Base Camp - Day Free

    Today is a free day at base camp for photograph and to enjoy the beauty of surrounding mountains with superb views of Diran & Rakaposhi, particularly.

    Day 07 Base Camp - Bulchi - Gilgit

    We return to Bulchi retracing our footprints and drive by jeeps to Gilgit for overnight stay.

    Day 08 Gilgit - Minapin - Hapakun

    Crossing the villages of Nagar & Hunza on KKH, we take a diversion for Minapin Village. From Minapin we will start the trek for Hapakun.

    Day 09 Hapakun -Tagaferi

    Tagaferi is a summer shepherd's settlement. We walk along the heavily crevassed Minapin Glacier and arrive at Hapakun for camp.

    Day 10 Tagaferi - Kacheili

    We cross the glacier to reach at flower filled meadows of Tagaferi, with superb views of Rakaposhi. Rest of the day is free at leisure to enjoy the beauty of surrounding peaks.

    Day 11 Kacheili - Hapakun

    We spend a free morning to enjoy the landscape and later start walking back to Hapakun.

    Day 12 Hapakun - Minapin - Karimabad ( Hunza Valley )

    Walking down to Minapin, we arrive and mount on our vehicles and drive to Karimabad, the capital town of Hunza valley.

    Day 13 Karimabad - Sightseeing

    Ultar, Hunza Dome, Bublimating, Spantik and Diran are famous peaks surrounds us at Karimabad, while Rakaposhi at 7788m dominates the whole panorama. At Karimabad, we visit Baltit Fort Museum and Altit Fort. Rest of the day is free for walking around villages and famous terraced fields of Hunza.

    Day 14 Karimabad - Excursion Khunjerab Pass

    Today we will make an excursion to the Sino-Pak border at Khunjerab, crossing the villages of Gulmit, Passu and Sost en route. Khunjerab is the highest point on KKH at 4734 meters and considered as the highest trade route in the world. In the evening we will return to hotel.

    Day 15 Karimabad - Gilgit

    We will drive back to Gilgit, where we enjoy a free time to explore bazaar and town. Gilgit River flowing through the town offers superb views and walk along its banks is rewarding.

    Day 16 Gilgit - Besham

    Return journey on KKH to Chilas, the place at the foot of Nanga Parbat, where hundreds of rocks are found with inscriptions, writings and drawings of old times. We will make a photo stop at Chilas and Shatial Rocks and continue driving to Besham for overnight stay.

    Day 17 Besham - Islamabad

    Making an early departure for Islamabad, we arrive at Taxila, the famous capital of Buddhists. At Taxila, we will visit Jaulian Monastery and Archaeological Museum and resume drive to Islamabad for overnight. At Islamabad, evening is free for packing and individual's activities.

    Day 18 Departure

    Our staff will provide transfer and assistance at departure and say bon voyage for your onwards journey.
